The Chester City Planning Commission on Feb. 11 recommended that City Council deny without prejudice the subdivision application for 611–619 West 7th Street after the statutory review period expired. The recommendation followed staff advice that no extension had been filed for that application.
"I move that the planning commission recommend to city council the denial without prejudice of the subdivision application for 611 To 619 West 7th Street due to expiration of the statutory review period prior to the commission's next regular meeting," said Commissioner Sharlene Law, who made the motion. The motion was seconded on the record and carried by voice vote; individual votes were not recorded in the transcript.
The commission also approved corrected minutes for the Jan. 14, 2026 meeting after a request from Commissioner Leola Williams that the name of a Tri‑State Islamic representative speaking at the prior meeting be added. That approval was completed by voice vote.
Planning staff noted two other active calendar items: a Dunkin' Donuts proposal on 4th Street (recently acted on) and an extension granted for 3308 West 2nd Street that runs through May. Staff said applicants who still want the commission to act on the 611–619 subdivision should file an extension before the first March City Council meeting to avoid the procedural denial advancing to council.
Next steps: the commission's recommendation will be transmitted to City Council; the transcript record does not specify a council hearing date.
