Board approves minutes and travel requests; levy count pending and police conduct follow-up after anonymous threat
Summary

Unidentified Speaker 1 moved to approve the Jan. 27 study session minutes and board meeting minutes; the board voted by voice and the chair announced the motion carried. Later the chair moved to approve eight travel requests covering student activities (girls golf, Future Health Professionals, FFA veterinary science competition, golf tournaments, AWSL leadership camp, all-state band and choir, and DECA in Bellevue); again members approved the full set by voice vote and the motion was announced as carried.
Dr. Finch updated the board on follow-up from an anonymous threat to the high school. He said he met with Yakima Police Department Chief Sean Boyle and district safety lead Clayton Wyckoff the next workday, and that Chief Boyle "was very responsive." Dr. Finch said Chief Boyle scheduled follow-up training and that YPD staff will review secure/lockdown procedures with district staff.
On district finances, Dr. Finch told the board replacement-levy ballots were due that day; he said the first count would be released in about a half hour and the election will be certified on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026, once canvassing is complete. No formal levy action was taken by the board at the meeting; the board will receive counts as reported by election officials.
The meeting concluded with board reports about student competitions and a pilot "coffee with a board member" outreach; the meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
