Summary
Judge Reagan Taylor told the court a $9.01 1 fee was incorrectly billed on some phone accounts; MetroNet has initiated credits. The court also recognized the county 9‑1‑1 dispatch team for storm response and announced an April 24 animal-shelter fundraiser and local outreach on HB 577 jail reimbursements.
Judge Reagan Taylor used his report at the Madison County Fiscal Court meeting to notify residents about a 9‑1‑1 billing error and to highlight county emergency communications, community events and local advocacy.
"The $9.01 1 fee should be on water bills now and no longer on the landline telephone bills," Taylor said, noting the court had received statements from customers who still saw the fee on their phone bill. Taylor said the county contacted phone service providers and that MetroNet told the court "our third party vendor did not update its tables in our billing system in a timely fashion" and "MetroNet has initiated a credit that will be applied to their February bills." He added that 22 customers identified will see incorrect amounts on their February bills and those corresponding credits will be applied on March bills. Taylor asked residents with incorrect bills to "text us a picture of your bill" so the county can forward it to the provider for correction.
Separately, Jill presented an employee spotlight that praised the Madison County emergency communications and 9‑1‑1 dispatch team for their coordination during recent winter storms. Jill said, "When everything feels like chaos, our 9‑1‑1 dispatch team rises to the occasion every single time," noting the team's role in coordinating rides for essential health‑care personnel, directing road crews and supporting first responders.
Jill also announced a community fundraising partnership: in collaboration with 4 Paws Unleashed and Kentucky Save, the county animal shelter will be a beneficiary of a Casino Night at Chennault Vineyards on April 24 at 7 p.m. She said event information and sponsorship opportunities are available on the county website and social media.
Magistrate Tom and other court members also urged public action on House Bill 577, describing it as legislation that would help counties obtain reimbursements for jail costs; Tom said the court planned to travel to Frankfort to speak with legislators and encouraged residents to call their representatives to express support.
Taylor closed by listing community events on the county website and reminding the public county offices would be closed Feb. 16 for Presidents Day.
