US Water reports monthly flows; council approves warrants and questions legal bills

Andrew "Andy" Schuler of US Water presented the monthly water and sewer operations report for the November‑21 to December‑19 reporting period. He said the wastewater plant treated 10,480,000 gallons and the water plant produced 11,890,000 gallons during that span.
Schuler told the council the December operations budget was over by $10,935.79 and that there had been one water break during the reporting period. Councilors noted system water loss remained about 21 percent and discussed continued meter replacement and the possibility of metered fill stations to improve tracking and revenue recovery.
On the warrants (item 26‑0034) the council moved and seconded approval. A council member asked whether further bills from the AGHL law firm were expected after a recent legal matter; another member asked whether the city should explore seeking recoupment of legal fees from the losing party, since the city prevailed. The mayor and council indicated such recovery could be discussed separately from warrant approval. The clerk called the roll and the motion to approve the warrants carried.
