Lake County auditor praises facilities crew after courthouse water-line break

Galloway told the commissioners the break occurred on "Sunday the ninth" and affected Building C above veteran services, his Records Room, the treasurer's office, the recorder's office and the assembly room in the basement. He said crews shut off water, triaged the damage, brought in staff and began cleanup work immediately, including vacuuming water, removing drywall and replacing ceiling tiles.
“Tip of the cap to…Jason Boyd, and then also just your whole crew,” Galloway said, adding that crews worked in difficult weather conditions and that mold testing and moisture removal followed initial cleanup. He credited facilities staff with helping the Auditor’s Office and others resume operations quickly and described a temporary relocation to the 5th floor for about a week while repairs proceeded.
No formal motion, vote or policy action was recorded on the workshop agenda. The comments were delivered during the public-comment portion of the workshop and served as a public recognition of staff response and ongoing facilities work.
