The Harlem Consolidated School District board approved a package of routine business and contract items at its Jan. 20 meeting, including the purchase of six buses, a dust-collection system for the high school and service contracts to support students and operations.
Josh Schramm, business and operations, presented the financial summary and motioned for approval of the bills. He reported "The total payables this period were $1,177,950.66" and said total expenditures for the period were $12,214,442.89 broken out by fund. The board moved to approve the bills and recorded 'Aye' votes from members present.
Key approvals included awarding the bus purchase to Central States Bus Sales for three conventional-style buses ($449,370) and three transit-style front-engine buses ($514,740) for a combined cost of $964,110; awarding Harlem High School's dust-collection bid to Miller Engineering Company for $370,917 paid from life safety funds; and approving an agreement with Aya Healthcare Inc. to provide nursing services at Loves Park Elementary at $80 per hour (37.5 hours per week for 20 weeks), a contract total identified as $60,000 and to be paid with IDEA flow-through Part B funds. The board also approved a contracted school-improvement tutor ($10,500, Title I funds) and a one-time Tyler Technologies migration fee ($3,600).
All items were presented with accompanying motions and seconds and were carried by the board; where recorded, members responded 'Aye' during roll-call votes. The board also accepted the November 2025 treasurer's report and approved several student travel requests for qualified middle- and high-school competitions in late January and February.
No dissenting recorded votes were entered on these consent or contract items during the meeting. The board will receive reports as required and proceed with procurement and contract execution per standard district procedures.
