The Jersey Village City Council on Jan. 12 authorized staff to contract with IDS Engineering Group to provide design, bidding and construction management services for a set of wastewater rehabilitation projects, including the Castle Bridge Wastewater Treatment Plant and six lift stations.
Robert, presenting the item, said voters approved $20 million in certificates of obligation in November to address critical water and wastewater infrastructure needs and recommended IDS Engineering for the work. "The project carries an estimated construction cost of 7,720,000.00 with $859,000 allocated for professional engineering services," he said. Council asked about sequencing; Robert said some rehabilitations will be grouped for efficiency, with design for major components taking roughly 12 months and construction likely to span about another 12 months for larger elements.
Council moved and approved the resolution authorizing the city manager to execute the agreement. Staff said the projects will proceed through design and then competitive bidding; combining packages may yield better pricing and could result in a single contractor for multiple components.
