At the meeting the board took multiple procurement and capital‑project votes.
Fine arts director Chica Portillo reported the current marching uniforms were failing and recommended replacing them. The board approved purchase of 150 uniforms from Fred J. Miller Inc. for $103,060.75 to be funded from the fine arts general fund; Missus Major made the motion and Mister Neighbors seconded. The voice vote recorded one 'nay' and the motion carried.
For infrastructure, the board approved a civil engineering services agreement with Langan Engineering for design, permitting and construction‑phase assistance for the Liberty Hill High School wastewater lift station in the amount of $44,000, to be funded from the 2023 bond program.
The board also approved contracting VLK Architects for design services for renovations to the Liberty Hill ISD operations and maintenance facility as part of the 2021 bond program. Administration described an estimated construction cost not to exceed $2,000,000 and a design fee set at 8% of total cost of work (estimated design fee $160,000). The board authorized the superintendent to negotiate final terms.
On a major construction item, the board awarded Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) No. 2 to American Constructors for Elementary #8 in the amount of $38,019,507. GMP No. 1 had been previously approved at $5,875,493, bringing the combined GMP total to $43,895,000. Staff noted the project’s original construction budget was $45,000,000 and that the project currently sits under that budget. The motion to award GMP No. 2 was made by Missus Major and seconded by Mister Neighbors and carried by voice vote.
Each of these items was presented with funding sources (general fund for uniforms; 2023 bond program for the lift station and Elementary #8; 2021 bond program for the O&M facility design) and authorized the superintendent to finalize contract terms as needed.
