Summary
Students from Fort Morgan High School presented on Career & Technical Education clubs (FBLA, FCCLA, FFA), outlining leadership opportunities, community service projects, competitive events and hands-on career pathways.
Students representing FBLA, FCCLA and FFA described Career & Technical Education (CTE) pathways and their clubs' activities during the board meeting.
Elizabeth Whitney, president of FBLA, described community service projects, networking opportunities and competitive events that build leadership and workplace skills. "As a CTSO, FBLA likes to focus on teamwork, communication, and problem solving," she said, and she listed events including state and national conferences and local fundraisers.
Dominic Raul Woodward, president of FCCLA, and Tucker Brown and Isabella Flores from FFA summarized fundraisers such as the FCCLA craft show and community service projects, noted leadership-development conferences, and explained career development events (CDEs) and leadership development events (LDEs) that provide industry-relevant skills and certification opportunities.
Students said the clubs offer hands-on experience and pathways to postsecondary opportunities, including certificates from classes such as food science. Board members thanked the students and accepted materials and invitations to view maker-space activity in the high school.
The presentations were informational and no board action was taken on the CTE programs at this meeting.
