Roseville badges new firefighter, confirms appointments and hears library reopening timeline

The Roseville City Council on Feb. 10 held a brief ceremony to badge a firefighter who completed probation and approved several appointments and reappointments to local boards while receiving a construction and reopening update from the library director.
Fire department leadership introduced firefighter Brandon Urban, describing his EMT and paramedic training, time at MedStar and the Roosevelt Fire Department, and completion of the fire academy. Brandon addressed the council, saying, "I would like to thank the city council and the mayor for having me here. And I'd like to, thank the city of Roosevelt for putting their trust in me as a firefighter paramedic, and I will continue to serve the city as best as I can." Council members welcomed him to Roseville and congratulated his family.
Council then moved several appointments: Brandy Ellis was appointed to the Downtown Development Authority, and Scott Hoach (transcript spelling varies) and James May were reappointed to the DDA. Jordan Green and Daniel Rutledge were appointed to the Parks and Recreation Board. Each appointment was made by motion, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Library Director Jackie Harvey briefed the council on the library renovation and operations, describing finishing millwork and furniture installation and saying the facility "is looking more and more like a real library instead of a construction zone." She said staff are continuing curbside service while final installations are completed and that the city is "working towards" a reopening date in March, contingent on weather and logistical tasks such as moving collection carts.
The council also noted community events and items of local interest, including the DDA-approved Jammin' at the Junction scheduled for July 18, 2026. Council members praised city departments for winter response and officer wellness supports put in place after a recent major incident.
The meeting moved on after the reports and appointments; council returned from closed session later in the evening to continue business.
