Policy & Planning Committee chair Matt Lacavoli told the board that the committee had adopted 11 policy updates and seven new regulations and planned to move them to the full board as first reads via the consent agenda.
Lacavoli said 10 of the 11 policies stem from federal regulations or state public acts and include technical revisions to Title 9; three of those add assault victims and human trafficking victims into protected classes under Connecticut nondiscrimination laws. He singled out a locally developed civility and decorum policy as a distinct item that originated under the prior board and was vetted by the district legal team (Shipman & Goodwin).
A board member clarified during the workshop that the meeting was a first‑read/report and that no final votes could be taken on those items at this session. Lacavoli said the committee will move the items forward to the board for formal consideration at a future meeting.
