Flint Board of Education elects Joyce Ellis McNeil president, fills officer posts for 2026

Dr. Joyce Ellis McNeil was elected president of the Flint Board of Education for 2026 after trustees nominated candidates and conducted a roll-call vote, which the chair announced as 7–0 in favor of McNeil. She then presided over the remainder of the organization meeting, which included elections to other officer posts and routine board procedures.

McNeil took the gavel after Trustee Laura McIntyre and others nominated candidates for vice president, secretary and treasurer. The board selected Laura McIntyre as vice president (chair announced 6 votes for McIntyre, 1 for an alternative). Trustee Claudia Perkins was chosen as secretary and Trustee Dylan Luna as treasurer. The board also appointed Trustee Linda Booth to serve as co-chair/assistant secretary‑treasurer when officers are absent.
