Clatsop County commissioners approve proclamations, consent calendar and appointments; continue ordinance hearing to Feb. 25

The Clatsop County Board of Commissioners took several routine actions at its February meeting, approving proclamations, a committee appointment and the consent calendar while continuing a first reading of a county ordinance.
The board unanimously approved a resolution proclaiming Feb. 21-28, 2026 as National FFA Week after presentations by student leaders from the Astoria and Jewel FFA chapters. The board also approved a resolution proclaiming February 2026 as Black History Month, following remarks from County Manager Don Boone.
After closing the public-comment period with no speakers, commissioners moved and approved the consent calendar. In business items, the board reappointed Matthew Grantham to the Recreation Lands Planning Advisory Committee by motion and vote.
County counsel read the title of Ordinance 26-06 (an amendment to county code section 5.2 relating to opting into the state's tobacco retail license). Kelly Bratton, director, summarized prior work and an intergovernmental agreement with the Department of Revenue to handle reimbursement for enforcement. With no members of the public signed up to speak, the board voted to continue the public hearing and conduct the second reading at its Feb. 25, 2026 meeting.
The meeting opened with roll call and the Pledge of Allegiance and adjourned after the scheduled business.
