Quincy City approved a series of special-use permits and one‑day liquor licenses at its hearing on Feb. 13, clearing organizers to hold community fundraisers, school events and vendor pop-ups in coming months.
The board granted Interfaith Social Services a special-use permit for its Stop the Stigma 5K, scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. April 25 at the Kennedy Center (440 East Swamp Street). Stone, speaking for Interfaith Social Services, said the event — in its 50th year in some form — raises funds for the organization’s mental health counseling center in Quincy and that organizers expect about 900 participants. Stone told the board the event will contract parking at Marina Bay and operate a shuttle; organizers plan to permit a single food truck and will follow the city’s permitting process for propane vendors.
