Azusa Unified board approves several resolutions, including staff reductions and 2027-28 calendar

At its Feb. 10 meeting the Azusa Unified School District Board of Education approved multiple routine and policy items by unanimous vote.
During the meeting the board approved Resolution 25-26-19 "a safe and secure learning environment for all," after trustee Rodriguez Pena described the resolution as a commitment to student privacy and safety. The motion passed 5-0 with student board member preference recorded.
Following that item the board approved an agreement between Azusa Unified and Leadership Associates (motion passed 5-0). The board later accepted the 2024-25 district and Measure K audits (see separate report) and then moved through personnel actions: the board approved Resolution 25-26-15 to decrease the number of classified positions "due to a lack of work and or lack of funds" and approved Resolution 25-26-16 to reduce and discontinue particular kinds of certificated services. Both personnel resolutions passed with unanimous votes.
The board also approved the 2027-28 school attendance calendar after motion and second. The meeting concluded with the board adjourning at 8:40 p.m.
These votes were recorded during the regular meeting; staff did not identify specific affected employees, timing for layoffs or additional recall procedures in the public discussion. Where the board approved reductions, the agenda language indicated the actions were "due to a lack of work and/or lack of funds."
