Oak Park administration previews Waste Management contract renewal; staff to provide line-item breakdown

Staff said the overall contract total — previously about $70,000 — is expected to remain effectively the same year over year but that some line items will decrease while others increase, producing a net neutral effect. The superintendent said cost per pickup has decreased in some areas while other charges (for larger dumpsters or special services) have increased and that the district will provide a red-lined line-item comparison prior to the next board meeting.
Trustees asked whether the contract covers extra pickups and whether there are charges for locked dumpsters. Administration said special pickups are included in the contract and that staff will check whether lock fees apply and report back to trustees. The contract will be brought forward as an action item at a future meeting with complete documentation.
