The Amite River Basin Commission voted Feb. 10 to add and pass a resolution committing the commission to cover any costs above available state funds for a pending real-estate closing tied to the Upper Amite restoration project.
Paul Sawyer, the commission’s chief advisor, told commissioners that due diligence on the Upper Amite restoration project is complete and the package is under review by the state Office of Facility Planning and Control. "We have $2,000,000 that was secured for us through Congresswoman Letlow," Sawyer said, and he said he will meet with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service later this month to discuss administration of that funding.
