River Falls council approves minutes, $2.63M in bills and consent agenda; comptroller reports positive net through January

At its Feb. 10 meeting the River Falls City Council unanimously approved routine business items, including the Jan. 27 meeting minutes and payment of city bills, and adopted the consent agenda.

Minutes and bills: A council member moved to approve the prior meeting minutes and the motion passed on voice vote. Council member Bierstead moved to approve payment of bills in the amount of $2,634,708.11 "subject to the comptroller," the motion was seconded and the council voted in favor.

Consent agenda: The consent agenda included a resolution awarding the 2026–2028 electric distribution and transmission line clearance tree service contract; the council moved, seconded and approved the consent agenda on voice vote.

Comptroller's report: Comptroller Diane reported general fund revenues through January 2026 of $2,132,279 (14.8% of the year's budget), including $1,600,000 in general property taxes, $10,120 in zoning fees and $8,200 in building permits. Expenditures through January were $1,028,048 (7.1% of budget), leaving net revenues over expenditures of $1,104,231 as of Jan. 31, 2026.

Closed session motion: At the end of open session a motion passed to move into a closed session under Wisconsin Statute 19.85(1)(e) to discuss sale and development of city property in Man Valley Corporate Park; the council took a roll call and all present voted yes to enter closed session.

Ending: These routine approvals advance the city's business and set the council up to consider the zoning ordinances and closed-session land discussions in subsequent proceedings.
