The county clerk asked the Fiscal Court for permission to advertise and open bids for a digital-access project to digitize Woodford County public records dating from the late 18th century to present, with the goal of expanding online public access and preserving fragile documents.
The clerk told the court the vendor estimate for the project would likely be in the neighborhood of $180,000 and said the funding would be a grant that is expected to be 100% paid. "it'd probably be a $180,000 grant that would be 100% paid," the clerk said while requesting permission to proceed with the bid opening. The court moved, seconded and unanimously approved soliciting bids and authorizing the clerk and the judge executive to sign documents needed for the grant process.
Separately, Linda Durocet, executive director of the Jack Jewett House Historic Site, reported the site received a $10,000 grant from the Kentucky Historical Society/America250 program to film a short biographical piece and listed last season's events and improvements, including a new HVAC system, upgraded parking, new walkway and signage. Durocet said the site hosted more than 850 visitors and highlighted upcoming Black History Month programming.
The clerk also briefed the court on upcoming absentee ballot mailings (absentee ballots likely to start mailing March 30) and a veterans license-plate program funded in part by a $2,000 donation from the American Legion; the clerk reported the program balance at $1,636.84.
