The board meeting opened with community recognitions. An Illinois Principals Association representative presented the Building Bridges Award to honor the collaboration between CHSD 99 and the Grove Express Foundation, citing the foundation’s annual Thanksgiving 5K, a student‑led junior board and more than $500,000 contributed to local education.
Nicole Wallace, chair of the Grove Express junior board, thanked district staff and listed school staff partners by name; multiple Grove Express students described leadership and event‑planning experiences as formative.
Administrators also recognized All‑State Theater honorees from the district; Hunter Evans said the organization draws hundreds of applicants statewide and described his role as scenic designer. The district introduced a new boys bowling team; coach Scott Gallen and student members highlighted a 24‑player roster, roughly 16 head‑to‑head matches, two invitationals and several conference honors including a perfect game by one bowler.
Board members and student representatives used the recognitions to praise extracurricular opportunities and student leadership, and the board offered formal congratulations.
