Brighton board approves nonresident tuition, teachers' MOA and consent agenda; recesses to executive session

The presiding official stated the state provides the nonresident tuition number; the board moved to approve the tuition policy and carried the motion (moved by Karen, seconded by Christina). The board also approved a memorandum of agreement between the district and the Brighton Teachers Association (moved by Sue, seconded by Elder) and then approved a consent agenda that included a $1,425 gift from the Brighton Education Fund for 10 Science Olympiad kits, a trombone donation and $300 for a VPA scholarship.
The board read the first-read policies on noninstruction business operations (Policy 5130), personnel registration and professional learning (Policy 6213), and administration of the budget (Policy 5140) and took those as first reads. After completing business, the board moved to adjourn and recess into executive session to discuss a series of personnel matters; the motion to enter executive session was moved by Karen, seconded by Sue and carried.
