Board hears INDOT letting updates as bids come in above estimates

At the meeting the board received an update on federal funding obligations and the INDOT 18‑month letting list, including recent bid results and upcoming lettings.
A staff presenter said INDOT opened bids for the South Pine Creek project, where three bids were received and none were below the engineer’s estimate. He reported receiving a letter from the Lafayette City Engineer’s office accepting the bid and that federal‑obligation letters had been submitted to the central office to obligate most of the MPO’s federal funds for the year. "There were 3 bids submitted, and unfortunately, none of those were below the engineer's estimate," the presenter said.
The presenter reviewed January lettings: State Road 225 reconstruction was awarded (engineer’s estimate $9,990,000; low bid $9,750,000). He said an I‑65 pavement patching award was pending and a State Road 38 project was awarded. For a soil‑nail repair project addressing MSE walls he reported an engineer’s estimate of $1,990,000 and a low bid of $1,940,000 and said he expected an award to be reported next month.
Looking ahead, staff listed projects scheduled for March and later, including a North 9th Street bridge deck replacement, several INDOT projects and one on State Road 25, four thin‑deck overlay projects on I‑65 at locations such as Wildcat Creek and State Road 26, and a traffic‑signal modernization project at County Road 900 East that was moved from a July letting to a December letting.
Board members did not request additional details and the meeting moved on to other business.
