Danville — The Danville City Commission on Feb. 9 approved the selection of Wren's Nest Daycare to become the tenant at the Jeanie Rogers Community Center, and owners told the commission they hope to begin service by April.
Melissa Wren, who introduced the Wren family proposal, said the operation will use the community center's full kitchen to provide breakfast, lunch and snacks. "This is more than just a day care. These are our children. This is our community, and we want to give them a special place to grow," she said.
Staff said the new tenant plans a tiered rollout rather than opening at full capacity immediately to ensure smooth operations and staffing. Commissioners expressed support, noting the potential to serve far more children than the prior provider and the local benefit of expanded childcare capacity.
Wren's Nest is currently operating out of Harrelsburg and will maintain that location while expanding into Jeanie Rogers. The commission invited the owners to return for a future update as they approach the opening and to coordinate an open house announcement.
