Danville — Auditors told Danville City commissioners on Feb. 9 that the city's fiscal year 2025 financial statements received a clean, unmodified opinion.
Ben Dennison of accounting firm Cherry Bekaert summarized the audit findings and told the commission the firm found no noncompliance for federal awards and that ARPA spending reviewed as part of the audit was properly accounted for. "It's a clean audit, unmodified opinion, highest level of assurance we can give you," Dennison said, adding, "We were not made aware of any fraud or illegal acts."
Lee Compton, who introduced the auditors, said the city has been working to catch up on audits after prior delays and praised finance staff for producing statements that did not require corrections. Commissioners thanked staff for the effort to complete multiple audits in a short time frame.
The audit packet will be posted to the city's website, and Dennison said detailed reports are available in the commission packet for public review. Commissioners offered no substantive questions about the findings at the meeting and voted to accept the audit presentation.
