Suamico board greenlights bidding and engineering amendment to advance Well No. 5 project

The Village of Suamico Village Board voted Feb. 3 to proceed with a phased approach to its Well No. 5 project, approving bidding of the permanent well ahead of the facility, PRVs and tower and authorizing an amendment to the professional-services agreement to complete design and bidding for the remaining components.

The director said a DNR-required pilot test for treatment parameters is expected to cost about $40,000 and is scheduled to begin in March or April. The board discussed funding and rate impacts: the director said the project will likely be funded partly with impact fees (approximately 40% of the plan) and that utility-rate increases would likely be staged in 2026 and subsequent years per Public Service Commission (PSC) timing.
Trustees approved two separate motions: one to bid permanent-well construction now (motion passed 7–0), and one to approve Amendment No. 2 to the Ayers and Donahue / Arizona Associates professional-services agreement to continue design and bidding for the well station, PRVs and tower (motion passed 7–0). Staff said construction is targeted to begin in 2026 depending on contractor availability and DNR approvals.
