Suamico honors Dennis Van Heuvel for 38 years of service

The Suamico Village Board adopted Resolution 25‑009 on April 21 honoring Dennis Van Heuvel for more than 38 years of service with the Suamico Sanitary District and the village’s Department of Public Works.
Director Smits read the resolution noting Van Heuvel began service on April 14, 1987, and served as a wastewater‑treatment plant operator and utilities laborer. “He’s one of the most honest and sincere guys you’ll ever want to have as part of your team,” Director Smits said, listing duties that ranged from plowing snow to turning valves.
Trustee Andrews moved to approve the resolution as read; Trustee Eckert seconded. A roll‑call vote recorded seven ayes and no nays and the board entered the commendation into the official record. Trustees and the presiding official offered brief thanks and exchanged congratulatory remarks with Van Heuvel, who was present.
The resolution records Van Heuvel’s retirement date as April 18, 2025, and formally recognizes his decades of service to village utilities.
