The Suamico Village Board voted unanimously May 5 to approve a five-year contract with Fair Market Assessments Inc. to serve as the village assessor for the contract period beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2030.
Assessor Deaner, who presented the contract to the board, said the firm benchmarks fees against nearby communities and set future cost adjustments using published consumer price data. “I look at a village like Bellevue and Ledgeview being pretty similar to Suamico,” Deaner said. He and trustees discussed using a roughly 3.2% year-over-year inflation figure for the contract and noted the first-year increase totals about $7,000 over the previous agreement.
Trustees asked procedural questions about the CPI calculation and consistency with other contracts; Deaner said the figure reflects publicly available CPI indices. Trustee Romas moved to approve the contract and Trustee Stevens seconded. A roll-call vote recorded seven ayes and no nays; the motion carried unanimously.
After the vote, Deaner offered to sign contract copies so the village and assessor retain executed originals.
The approval is for the contract as presented; the board did not take up any separate ordinance or additional budget appropriation at the meeting. The village will monitor contract implementation and return to the board if any material changes are proposed.
