Chief Kreese said the ILEAP program helps departments demonstrate compliance with evolving standards and reduces liability risk by documenting policies and practices. "The Morton Grove Police Department has achieved tier 2, which means you meet or exceed 181 different important standards," he said, noting only about 63 departments in Illinois have reached this level.
Morton Grove staff specifically recognized Sergeant Gus Faso for managing the reaccreditation work. A Morton Grove police representative accepted the award and thanked Chief Kreese, saying the department “proudly accept[s] this Tier 2 reaccreditation” and praising the professionalism involved in the multi‑month process.
Village leaders congratulated the department on the accomplishment and thanked staff and community partners for supporting public safety efforts.
