City Administrator Lawrence told the council the proposed edits 'clean up' the ordinance and add specifics the council had discussed at an earlier meeting. Among the changes he read into the record was a provision limiting residential properties to one vented cargo container per lot and a prohibition on containers that "display graffiti or vulgar content." He described the changes as clarifying definitions and adding adoption dates where needed.
Staff said containers will be processed like other accessory storage units with case-by-case review for yard space and zoning compliance. The amendment also clarifies that electricity and interior lighting can be allowed if permitted and inspected.
A motion to approve the cleanup amendment to chapter 3, article 6 passed unanimously after a second, with council members signaling the change aligns the ordinance with prior council intent.
