The nominations follow the CAC’s standing requirement under South Gate Municipal Code Title 1 (chapter 1.25) to elect a chair and vice chair annually. Staff told members the committee missed the customary August election in 2025 because a meeting did not occur, and recommended holding the reorganization now so the committee would have elected officers for the coming year. The clerk noted the committee’s meeting compensation is $25 per regular meeting.
The confirmed chair and vice chair will preside over upcoming CAC responsibilities tied to the annual action plan and Citizen Participation Plan, including reviewing CDBG applications and forwarding recommendations to the City Council.
