The Arizona Senate on Feb. 11 considered gubernatorial nominations and recorded confirmations for two executive-branch appointments.
The committee on judiciary and elections recommended the confirmation of Tammy L. Eigenhear as director of the Office of Administrative Hearings; the Senate gave its advice and consent by voice vote.
The committee on director nominations recommended Karen Lee Peters for director of the Department of Environmental Quality. After a requested roll-call vote, the chamber recorded 26 ayes and 4 nays and confirmed Peters. Senator Capilde praised Peters’ experience, including work co-chairing environmental issues on the Arizona–Mexico Commission and said Peters represented Arizona well in cross-border environmental conversations.
