Staff opened the vacancy and introduced candidates in alphabetical order. Charles Foote described long‑distance and local riding experience and urged improved bike lanes and safety lighting. John Gilkeson proposed ideas such as a large‑scale solar system model along a trail and said he values safe off‑road trails. Andrea Holguin described her work with Velo Cruces, an adaptive cycle program and a recent $10,000 donation enabling adaptive cycles for adults with disabilities; she emphasized equity and the needs of riders with disabilities. Ken Levine and an emailed statement from Howard Ward rounded out the applicant pool.
After candidate remarks, a board member moved to nominate Andrea Holguin; the motion was seconded and approved by roll call. "Thank you so much for your time," staff said after the vote.
