At its Feb. 10 meeting, the Hutchinson City Council adopted two ordinances and approved multiple consent-agenda resolutions.
Ordinances - Ordinance 26-871 (second reading and adoption) amends airport commission terms. Staff said there were no changes since the first reading. The council conducted a second reading, a motion was made and seconded, and the ordinance was adopted by voice vote. - Ordinance 26-872 (second reading and adoption) amends chapter 116 of the Hutchinson city code to expand lodging-tax collection to cover short-term rentals such as VRBO and Airbnb. Staff noted no changes since the first reading; the council approved the ordinance on second reading.
Consent agenda and resolutions The council approved a multi-item consent agenda that included awarding bids for a water-treatment plant reverse-osmosis membrane replacement (resolution 15987), amendments to prior resolutions to approve plans and advertise for bids for street-improvement projects (resolutions 15988 and 15989), and acceptance of multiple monetary donations for police, fire and youth programs (resolutions 15983—5986). The council also approved issuing a short-term gambling license to McLeod County Pheasants Forever for an event at the McLeod County Fairgrounds (03/14/2026) and a temporary liquor license for Hutchinson JC at the fairgrounds the same day; a separate short-term gambling license to Hutchinson JC for 04/02/2026 at Squeaky's Bar and Grill was also approved.
