Klamath County to move forward on sale of quarter-acre parcel for booster station; city must remove old pump within 12 months

The Klamath County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 12 authorized the chair to sign a purchase-and-sale agreement with the city of Klamath Falls for a small quarter-acre parcel to permit construction of a new booster station for local water infrastructure.
Terry Wells of County Property Management told the board the parcel was partitioned in 2023 and that the agreed sale price is $30,357, which he described as reimbursement equal to the system development charges (SDCs) for an RV park. "I brought to you guys today the purchase and sale agreement between the city of Klamath Falls and Klamath County," Wells said.
Wells said county staff added a covenant to the agreement requiring the city to remove the existing pump station within 12 months of completing the new pump station. If the board approves the final language, Wells said staff would send the paperwork to the city for review and then return the fully executed contract to the board for signatures.
An unidentified commissioner made the motion to authorize the chair to sign the agreement; another unidentified participant seconded the motion. The chair called for the vote and recorded three "ayes," and the motion carried.
Next steps: county staff will forward the agreement to the city of Klamath Falls for review and, if accepted, present the finalized contract back to the board for execution.
