Local budget requests: Cadenza treatment facility and county fair present capital needs

Cadenza (Crownsville facility): Lauren Graziano, director of government affairs, and Dave Slinger, chief real estate executive, presented a compact slide deck and described a list of capital needs for Cadenza’s Crownsville campus. Slinger summarized priorities such as multiple roof repairs, brick pointing on portions of the large 40,000-square-foot structure, replacement of about 25 windows, and a generator for critical systems. Graziano said the presentation and a detailed slide deck had been emailed to delegation staff for follow-up; the presenters noted the list was a menu of options that could be narrowed to fit budget constraints.
Anne Arundel County Fair: John Faber and Bruce Barriano described a failed retention pond on predominantly state-owned property used by the county fair. Barriano said the full remediation estimate is roughly $1 million and that the fair has applied for grants (seeking about $600,000 through a state program) and is requesting $300,000 from the House side to help fill a remaining funding gap. Barriano said they have worked with the Department of Natural Resources and with senator offices on grant pursuit and emphasized the repair’s urgency because runoff affects nearby county-owned facilities.
Both presentations were brief to keep within the delegation’s two‑minute LBI time limit; presenters agreed to follow up with detailed materials to staff and delegates.
