Tennessee Voices schedules community baby shower, offers in-home parenting supports in Bledsoe County

Melissa, an FSS worker with Tennessee Voices, said the program has worked in Bledsoe County for five years and provides in-home, evidence-based parenting support, including curriculum delivery, postpartum checks and developmental screens for infants. "We offer in home evidence based parenting support by coming and doing curriculum, post partum checks, developmental screens on your babies," she said.
Madison, also an FSS worker with the program, described the March 8 event as an opportunity to connect families to local providers and services. "So we are having a community baby shower, and it will be at the municipal building," she said, adding the organizers have posted a Facebook event and will circulate flyers.
Organizers said roughly 10 to 15 local resource organizations are expected to attend, including the health department and several local pediatricians who expressed interest. Attendees will walk vendor tables to collect information and can enter drawings for door prizes donated by local businesses. Melissa listed some giveaways organizers plan to distribute: "We have 2 cases of wipes, a pack and play, a stroller, and various other prizes."
The event is open to anyone interested; Madison noted people from neighboring jurisdictions have attended similar events and specifically mentioned Ray County and Sequatchie County. Organizers asked interested families to message them or use the posted Facebook event to obtain contact details and the event flyer.
The March 8 baby shower is intended as both a community event and an outreach opportunity for Tennessee Voices Nurture the Next to recruit families for its in-home supports. For more information, organizers said they will post contact information and the flyer on social media ahead of the event.
