Angie Gregory updated the Northampton Energy and Sustainability Committee on Feb. 10 about a pollinator‑landscape demonstration worked on with NHS Environmental Club student leaders.
Gregory said the subcommittee and students focused on short‑term priorities: site signage, student presentations, volunteer coordination, and maintenance of the newly established pollinator demonstration (including compost and rain‑barrel access). She said students are interested in coordinated volunteer activities with Tree Northampton and emphasized that newly planted sites require extra maintenance in early years.
The subcommittee plans another meeting on Feb. 27 at Northampton High School to expand student engagement and to produce minutes and next steps. Members asked for clarity on whether the subcommittee’s work would expand to other city sites; Gregory and staff said they expect project‑based follow‑ups and possible resident guides.
