Board adopts Brighton Blueprint: four priorities for 2024–25 after community planning

The Brighton Central School District board approved the 2024–25 Brighton Blueprint, a strategic plan the district said was shaped by community outreach and a June planning day that involved 71 participants.
Dr. McGowan summarized the Blueprint as a community‑driven document that distills feedback into specific action plans, assigning responsibility, timelines and measures of success. "This is the plan of the community, not a small group of people," Dr. McGowan said, describing four priority areas: mental health, wellness and student support; academic excellence; family and student experience; and operations.
Each priority includes three focus areas and four goals with associated objectives and assigned leads. The district said staff supports and equity considerations are woven through every priority. Materials will be shared with staff on opening day, posted online and used to inform budget recommendations in February and planning updates in June. The board approved the plan (moved by Karen; seconded by Carrie Lynn).
Board members praised the collaborative work on Blueprint day. The district said it will provide quarterly updates to the board and use the plan to guide committee charges and budget priorities for the coming school year.
