The district plans to put staff on the main floor, host a portion of Northeast Kingdom Organizing upstairs, offer intern housing for an AmeriCorps placement, and co‑locate a garage for conservation equipment so rental gear is stored centrally.
Gonzales said the fair association supports the arrangement and could regain vitality from the district’s presence. She confirmed the $275,000 request includes purchase, repairs and basic office furnishings. Committee members asked for the house’s square footage; Gonzales estimated it was a typical family home around 2,200 square feet (estimate provided in testimony).
