Miami Gardens council adopts zoning code changes for parking and land-use on second reading

The Miami Gardens City Council approved an amendment to its zoning code (item 13.2) on second reading, updating off-street parking, loading and vehicular circulation requirements and related use regulations.
Planning & Zoning Director Reggie White opened the quasi-judicial portion of the meeting and explained hearing procedures for applicants and members of the public. The clerk read the ordinance title: amendments to Article 12 (off-street parking/loading/vehicular circulation), Article 2 (administration) and Article 9 (use regulations), noting the item was sponsored by the city manager.
No members of the public offered comment on the item during the hearing. After brief confirmation there were no public comments, the council moved, seconded and took a roll-call vote. The clerk recorded six yes votes (Councilwoman Michelle Powell, Councilwoman Katrina Wilson, Councilwoman Linda Julian, Councilwoman Katrina Baskin, Councilman Reggie Leon and Vice Mayor Stevens). The motion passed 6-0.
Staff said the ordinance includes the changes shown in the meeting packet and will be codified consistent with the city’s administrative process for adoption of zoning amendments.
