Commissioners approve Rumpke rezoning for limited landfill footprint and operations

A Rumpke representative told the board the company sought rezoning of roughly 36.6 acres of a larger parcel (with about 6 acres to be used as an actual landfill footprint) and explained that additional acreage would supply dirt for operational buffers. Commissioners said they had toured the facility and were satisfied by the company's environmental practices as described in the presentation.
Commissioner S2 moved to approve the rezoning, Commissioner S4 seconded, and the board approved the request by a 3-0 voice vote.
The rezoning applies only to property Rumpke already owns; Rumpke said the change would help future operations and buffer construction while remaining subject to applicable easements and environmental regulations.
