New Indigenous Commission member Elizabeth Washburn introduces herself to Flagstaff commission

Elizabeth (Libby) Washburn, a Chickasaw Nation citizen and associate CEO at the Native American Agriculture Fund, formally introduced herself at the Feb. 12 Indigenous Commission meeting and described her interest in working with Flagstaff’s indigenous communities and local projects.
At the Feb. 12 meeting, the Indigenous Commission formally welcomed Commissioner Elizabeth Washburn. Washburn said she goes by Libby, is a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation, moved to Flagstaff about two years ago with her family and has worked about 25 years in Indian law in both private practice and government roles.
"I'm a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation, and I moved to Flagstaff almost 2 years ago," Washburn said. She said she currently serves as associate CEO of the Native American Agriculture Fund, a trust that supports Native agriculture projects nationwide, and that the fund already supports several projects in the Flagstaff area.
Washburn said she looks forward to strengthening ties with the local indigenous community and partnering with the commission on programs and outreach. Commissioners welcomed her introductions and noted opportunities to collaborate on youth programs, cultural events and regional initiatives.
