Buena Vista trustees approve licenses, resolutions and set multiple public hearings

At their Feb. 10 meeting trustees approved a liquor license, adopted two resolutions updating fees and recycling coordination, extended a moratorium on natural medicine businesses and set public hearings on an electric-preferred energy code and the Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code.
Trustees of the Town of Buena Vista approved several administrative items and set hearings on two state or county-requested building-code updates at their meeting on Feb. 10, 2026.
The board granted a hotel and restaurant liquor license for Not the Same Old Food Truck LLC doing business as Mountain Oasis Bar & Grill at 215 U.S. Highway 24 N after staff reported background checks and neighborhood petitions were complete and police and fire recommendations were satisfactory. The motion to approve passed by voice vote.
Trustees adopted Resolution No. 12, related to county recycling and education/outreach coordination under Colorado's Extended Producer Responsibility framework, and Resolution No. 13, which updates fee schedules for planning, airport and clerk departments. Both resolutions passed by voice vote.
The board set two public hearings: the electric-preferred amendment (proposed amendment to the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code) for April 14, 2026, and the Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code (state-mandated mapping and code adoption) for March 24, 2026. Trustees also agreed to a work session option and additional public outreach prior to those hearings.
Trustees approved Ordinance No. 2, extending a temporary moratorium on permitting for natural medicine businesses to allow planning and zoning review and the statutory referendum period. The motion passed by voice vote.
Other procedural directions included staff moving forward on a transportation master-plan procurement (staff was directed to work with the town's on-call engineering consultant to finalize scope and cost) and forming a short-term rental work group (trustees directed staff to publish an application process; see separate article for details).
The meeting concluded with trustees and staff emphasizing respectful dialogue and thanking volunteers and department staff. The board adjourned by voice vote.
