Staff also recommended a new finance operations specialist position to address reduced staffing in the finance department after a retirement and an internal move; the commission moved, seconded and approved the position and associated pay grade.
The commission acknowledged Commissioner Pollan's resignation (effective Dec. 30) and reviewed the appointment process: the application deadline for the open commission seat is this Friday at 5 p.m.; the commission plans a public workshop and interviews and will appoint a replacement at a future meeting to satisfy the charter's 30‑day requirement. Staff also reviewed logistics for upcoming community events including Oakland Heritage Day on Jan. 25 and the Meet Your Mayor event in February.
