The Town of Oakland commission on March 25 presented a proclamation recognizing former Commissioner Rick Pollan for more than two decades of local service and read proclamations designating April 2025 as Water Conservation Month and Child Abuse Prevention Month.
"I, Shane Taylor, mayor of the town of Oakland, on behalf of the town commission and the citizens of Oakland, do hereby recognize and express our deepest gratitude to former commissioner Rick Pollan for his outstanding service and unwavering dedication to our community," Mayor Shane Taylor read as he presented the proclamation.
The commission also took two routine actions. With no public comment on the items, the chair called for a motion on the consent agenda, which included minutes from the March 11 meeting, an outsourced care provider agreement, and a memorandum of agreement related to immigration/customs enforcement; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Elise moved to appoint Lou Lambros as the commission representative to the Open Nature Preserve board; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote and commissioners congratulated Lambros.
No roll‑call vote tallies were recorded in the meeting transcript for either the consent agenda or the appointment; the chair recorded the outcome with a voice "Aye." The town also noted administrative staffing updates and that Melody Oliver will be designated town clerk for signatory purposes until a permanent clerk is hired.
