At the April 22 meeting, Public Works staff (Mike) updated the commission on several infrastructure items. He said contracted pavers experienced equipment failures but are expected to be on site the following day. Mike clarified that this year’s budget funds "roundabout landscaping" limited to the four quadrant planting areas on the roundabout’s exterior; the decorative centerpiece (the acorn/brick planter) is budgeted but not yet under contract.
Mike announced the recent commissioning of the Grove Lift Station, which will serve the grove areas and portions of the Highway 50 mixed-use district and other neighborhoods. He also informed the commission that the town’s application for septic-to-sewer funding through FDP (Floridians' funding program referenced in the transcript) was not selected. Mike stated the town had requested $850,000 and that the program distributed $55 million across selected projects; he said town staff will reapply next year and continue discussions with state contacts.
On paving strategy, Mike said a consultant’s draft priority list for using asphalt millings on town streets is scheduled for May 13 and the results will be included in the next agenda packet. Commissioners and staff noted equipment repairs are complete and contractors are expected to resume work. Mike also reminded the commission of a county-wide burn ban and reiterated safety exceptions for grills and small controlled fires.
