Council Member Carefootis pressed for a coordinated approach to road and water work, asking that when the city repaves local streets crews also replace substandard water mains. “Our infrastructure is so old... we really need to start doing something about it,” she said, noting repeated water‑main breaks reported by residents and asking staff to show cost estimates for pairing water‑main replacement with road projects. City Manager Gibbons confirmed the city routinely pursues grants and coordinates engineers for water work when roads are involved.
Council Member King proposed creating a risk‑and‑prioritization model that ranks water mains by age, failure history and material to guide replacements, and he urged an energy audit of city facilities to reduce utility costs. King said he reviewed the capital improvement program and identified a 2026–27 CIP total of about $5,500,000; he asked that police and fire facility projects and key headcount replacements be prioritized within that total.
Mayor Pro Tem Dole and others supported improving police equipment and training, revisiting the city master plan, and adding grant‑writing capacity. Council Member Dole recommended a comprehensive emergency plan for residents and businesses and suggested reviving volunteer programs such as a CERT team to supplement city response capacity.
Council members also discussed the ice arena as a revenue generator if upgraded to host tournaments, preventative maintenance for parks and walkways, and possible part‑time ordinance officers to enforce snow removal and parking rules. No members of the public signed up to comment. With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
