The council adopted Resolution 2025-09 to allocate $510,377.27 in Jack Hopkins grant funding to 35 agencies after the Jack Hopkins committee’s review and recommendations.
Councilmember Asari, chair of the committee, summarized a shortened interview process and a pilot scoring rubric intended to increase transparency. The committee received 38 applications requesting nearly $1,000,000 and narrowed funding to the agencies and programs it judged to best meet city criteria for social services. The resolution approves funding agreements and authorizes the committee chair to resolve administrative questions about interpretation.
A clerical amendment correcting a program purpose entry in the funding table was introduced and adopted before the council passed the resolution. Councilmembers thanked committee members and noted the committee’s recommendation that the city consider steps to expand the fund in future years because community need exceeds current capacity.
