Council fills multiple board vacancies; Franklin Richards named to Valdosta‑Lowndes Development Authority

At the Feb. 5 meeting the Valdosta Mayor and Council made several appointments to boards and authorities.
The council filled five open slots on the Central Valdosta Development Authority (CVDA) from five applicants and appointed those applicants by acclamation. The Greater Lowndes Planning Commission appointment (to fill a slot vacated by Chip Wilds) went to William Tommy Willis by acclamation. For the Hospital Authority the council nominated and approved Timothy (Tim) Dame for reappointment. The Badassa Housing Authority appointments included reappointing David Hires and appointing Jeff Hansen and Uri Register to other slots as described by the mayor. For the Valdosta‑Lowndes County Development Authority the council considered three options and proceeded to nominate and approve Franklin Richards by show of hands.
