Lake Bluff — The Village of Lake Bluff Board of Trustees on Feb. 9 adopted a resolution honoring Deputy Chief Eric Gerke for 25 years of service with the Lake Bluff Police Department.
The Village President read the resolution recognizing Gerke’s service, noting he began his law-enforcement career with the village on Jan. 29, 2001, served on the Northern Illinois mutual-aid emergency services team and worked as a negotiator, was promoted to sergeant in 2011 and was selected by the board to serve as deputy chief in 2022. The resolution directs that an executive copy be delivered to Gerke and that the recognition be incorporated into the meeting minutes.
Trustees and others offered congratulatory remarks. One trustee recalled an on-duty episode that made local news — a former track athlete running down a stolen golf cart on Waukegan Road — and praised Gerke’s community engagement and mentoring. The resolution passed by voice vote.
What’s next: The executive copy of the resolution will be delivered to Deputy Chief Gerke and the resolution will be included in the official minutes of the meeting.
